Wym & Ham, February 2019
Good evening my fellow pacificans. Like many of you, I was deeply saddened to hear that our president and my close friend Cormac is resigning as President of Pacifica. Cormac entered Pacifica when it was a relatively inactive UCR, that could not be further from the truth now, we are one of the largest most active UCRs on NS. I wish to thank Cormac for his amazing service to Pacifica. So. what do I offer, well I offer continuity and innovation together. I have worked in many regions in NS and seen many systems in NS. From the delegate supremacy of The West Pacific to Osiris’ meritocracy, Europeia’s democracy and Balder's constitutional monarchy. My ideal government is a democratic meritocracy, where elections are held for the head of the region, but the leader constantly encourages activity and is not afraid to appoint newer players to top positions. I have already spoken to my running mate, a man who compliments me by possessing skills that I do not. It is the master of Gameside, Ham! Below is a short statement from my wonderful running mate: I have already decided on my cabinet and would nominate them to serve as soon as I am elected. In foreign affairs I will build new alliances, I see opportunities for Alliances across NS, I would join a WA voting Bloc and I would develop our existing alliances further, the treaty with Caer Sidi is just a start. We must pursue a policy of enhancing our soft power, is the pen not mightier than the sword? By expanding our sphere of influence, I would ensure that diplomatically Pacifica takes steps to become the heavyweight it has the potential to be With regards to the PRA, I have previously served as 2nd in command of the Sekhmet legion of Osiris. I would work closely with the head of the PRA to ensure that Pacifica’s military grows whilst maintaining our anti-griefing policy. On PAWS, PAWS is good, of the WA nations in Pacifica, only 33 aren’t endorsing Cormac. This is still a significant amount, but manageable. However, has 511 nations in it of those only 164 nations are WA. That leaves 347 nations, not in the WA, that's 67% of Pacifica not in the WA therefore surely we should focus on growing the number of members in the WA as that will enable us to increase the President's endorsement count that way. In terms of legislation, I am extremely qualified. I will be resigning as Chief Scribe of Osiris after a year on the 1st of March. I will depart as the longest-serving head of legislature in Osiran history. Before that, I served as a deputy Scribe for around 8 months. Josh calls me Mr Legalism. I live and breathe legislation, I love it. I will be uniquely able to ensure that my administration has the legislative foundation it needs to work from. Turning our attention to internal affairs, promoting activity by the use of festivals is a key idea I would promote throughout my tenure. I would legilsate to create regional holidays, I would introduce regional peerage and I would create a system of regional honours and awards to reward those who contribute most to Pacifica. I would ensure that my minister for the interior liased closely with the department of culture to achive excellent inter-departmental co-operation. This is one of the areas in which my choice of VP will come in most handy, as Ham is extremely experienced in GA and CA. In addition to this, I would work closely with the administrative team to implement a monetary system and establish a regional currency. Members of the government would be paid a wage depending on their level of responsibility. Wages would also be paid to recipients of regional nobility titles and cash sums paid for regional awards. Remember, Vote Wym Today for a better tomorrow!

(Depsite you trying to remove me) Fixed the typo, I was writing my leaving speech as CS the same time as this, I accidentally called Osiris a UCR as well. Good to hear melons. I want to emphasise that the vote to remove you was not personal in the slightest, I have the deepest respect for you as a person melons

If citizens wish to be condiered for that role should I be elected, please contact me via discord. I am bogieoone#3478. I am also looking for possible individuals to become undersecretaries of departments, again contact me via discord to express your interest. That does sound like an excellent campaign name, I shall certainly keep it in mind for the next elections should I stand, however, we have already starting designing the logo, so unfortunately it's too late to change it now

Can I ask the rationale behind the introduction of political parties and stylistic regional nobility? As Pacifica is a democratic region, I find both of those things (the former associated with republicanism, the latter associated with monarchism) to be somewhat antithetical to the culture here.

As Pacifica is a democratic region, I find both of those things (the former associated with republicanism, the latter associated with monarchism) to be somewhat antithetical to the culture here. In response to the "Regional nobility" it is used to show that people have done good work and to encourage people to do better work.

In response to the republicanism point. We are a republic, our Constitution is that of "The republic of Pacifica" our army is the "Pacifican Republican Armada) so of course we would want to be more or a republic

I suppose I should have made it more clear--I have concerns about the effect of political parties on the nature of direct democracy in congress that exists in Pacifica. Do you feel that legislation on political parties will improve the political atmosphere in Pacifica?

I suppose I should have made it more clear--I have concerns about the effect of political parties on the nature of direct democracy in congress that exists in Pacifica. Do you feel that legislation on political parties will improve the political atmosphere in Pacifica? The legislation on political parties would be primarily for elections. It would be based on the political parties they have in Europeia which are only active in elections

Just so it is more clear, is regional nobility going to basically be presidential awards?

Just so it is more clear, is regional nobility going to basically be presidential awards? Yes. I have my reservations about political parties too. This could lead to splits, divides etc., of which we have too many of.

I will continue making comments on this matter at the scheduled debates. I hope not to derail or introduce controversy into your thread.

Just so it is more clear, is regional nobility going to basically be presidential awards? Yes sir. They will be made to fit Pacifica and will have absolutely no political power. Just to promote good work and to reward it!
